Culture, Creativity, and Innovation in the Internet Age

This paper is a definitive theoretical statement of the relation – and the difference – between creativity and culture. Going beyond this hotly disputed question, which arose early in my work on the economic function of creativity, it constitutes a foundation and starting point for a much wider question: what is the nature of the economies that are emerging as a consequence of the rise of ICT (Information and Communication Technology) and the displacement of material production by services, as the principal sphere of activity in which human labour is engaged.
