Money, Capital and Labour: A Critique of the Value-form Theory of Value

This paper was presented at the Historical Materialism conference on 7-9 December 2006 and started an engagement between the TSSI (Temporal Single System Interpretation) of Marx, and the value-form school. It examined the consequences of taking money as a logically prior category to labour in seeking to understand value. My aim was a symptomatic reading of the literature, to bring to the attention of its supporters and critics some consequences they may not have thought of.
